WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT COBALT RINGS
Cobalt is actually a lot like tungsten in terms of strength and durability. It’s incredibly hard and scratch resistant. Unlike traditional precious metals, cobalt does not easily bend, stretch, or deform once it has been shaped. This allows cobalt rings to maintain their form and resist scratching, even with frequent wear.
Ultimately – cobalt is about color. If you’re looking to match the white precious metal band of your partner rather than sport a gray, go with cobalt.
TO REMOVE
Cobalt rings are extremely hard and rigid, which makes them highly scratch and wear resistant, but it also means they cannot be bent, stretched, or broken like softer metals. If a cobalt ring needs to be removed, especially in an emergency, it must be carefully cut off using a ring cutter.
ENGRAVE
Cobalt rings can be laser engraved. The metal is hard yet the laser can etch a precise, permanent design into the surface of the ring. Use the ring builder to add text, fingerprint, or handwritten engraving for a personal touch.
WIDTHS & SIZES
Available in any width or size. Cobalt is highly versatile and can be made in virtually any width or size, making them suitable for a wide range of styles and preferences. See the ring builder to view all possibilities.
SIZEABLE
Cobalt rings are not sizeable because the metal is highly durable and scratch resistant. Meaning, the ring cannot be bent or stretched so sizing cannot be adjusted after production. We’ve got your back, cobalt is covered under the lifetime sizing warranty.
ORIGIN
Cobalt has been used in jewelry since at least 3000 B.C., with examples found in ancient Egyptian and Persian artifacts, and in glass from Pompeii.
WEIGHT
Less dense than Tungsten, so lighter. It’s also less brittle than Tungsten, so less likely to crack or shatter. Almost as hard.
DESIGN
So versatile! Cobalt accepts inlays, sleeves, and stones (bezel set only). It’s also available in any width or finger size. It can also take special finishes like tree bark, hammered, and distressed.
UPKEEP
Holds its polish and shine. Incredibly scratch proof. Clean with warm water, mild soap, and a soft bristle brush. Avoid abrasive ingredients and harsh chemicals.
