The birthstone for September, this beautiful sapphire is a 6MM round cabochon. The ring’s shank measures approximately 2.05MM wide at both the shoulder and the shank base. It measures approximately 1.8MM deep, with a total DWT of just over 2.14 (or 3.34 grams). In the Middle Ages, sapphires were associated with heaven and often worn by members of the clergy. According to Italian lore, sapphires offer protection from eye problems and melancholy. Such rich superstition of purity and fidelity surrounds the gem, in fact, that in the 13th century, it was believed that the color of a sapphire would fade if worn by an unfaithful partner.
